The Storage
Group began in July of 1995 when business partners
Jerry and Chad Lundberg purchased the already
existing Spring Lake Storage facility.
At the time, the facility had 45 units at 90%
occupancy. Immediately, the two began
construction of additional storage units.
In December of 2000,
the purchase of Fruitport Storage was added
to the group. At the time, the facility
had only 90 units with less than 50% occupancy.
In the spring and summer of 2001, 3 additional
buildings with approximately 150 additional
units were added, and by our one-year anniversary,
we were approximately 80% full with the existing
and new buildings.
Our growth led to offering
our customers rental trucks. At the end of 2002,
4 rental trucks were added.
Between 2002 and 2003,
five additional buildings were added to Fruitport
Storage.
In the Fall of 2002,
Fruitport Mobile Storage was started.
This division of The Storage Group offers customers
over-sea shipping containers (cargo containers).
Feeling the need to
expand even more, the purchase of Cloverville
Storage occurred in August 2003. At the
time, the facility was at approximately 75%
occupancy.
We moved our offices
in September 2003 to its current location at
42 South 3rd Street. The move brought
The Storage Group to a familiar setting, the
location previously occupied by Lundberg's Hardware.
In the Summer of 2004,
we added another partner, Heather Fett.
Expansion continued
through 2004 when 28 Climate Controlled units
were added. Also, mobile offices were
added to the offering through Fruitport Mobile
Storage. The offices include lights, a
drafting table, heat, and air.
Cooler units used at
fair and campgrounds around Michigan were added
in the Spring of 2005.
The Fall of 2005 brought
a brand new location on Airline Road.
